Do you just have a quick question you want to ask about something? Or do you have a problem that you want advice about but don’t want to commit to an ongoing relationship like coaching or therapy? A consultation is a great option for you. With this service, you can schedule the amount of time you feel would address the need you have from 15 minutes to 2 hours. During this time I will give you a quick answer or advice based on what I know at that time, from what you tell me about the problem. The answers could include a short answer, a list of other resources and options for you use to sort out the problem, or a suggestion to do therapy for the problem. The biggest difference between this and therapy or coaching is that there is no on-going relationship. We are not looking at the past and there is no commitment to come back for more help. I may talk about ways I can help you in therapy, but you are under no obligation to engage me for therapy.
Additionally, if you are in a serious dating relationship and would like to talk about the pros and cons of moving the relationship toward marriage, I am happy to do a consultation using the Prepare/Enrich assessment. This is a great way to see blind spots in the relationship and learn how to work through them. Typically there are 2-3 sessions to enable us to talk about all the aspects of the assessment and options for anything that might come up.
Please note that consultations are not therapy and we do not have a therapeutic relationship from this type of meeting. Consultations can be done either in my office or by video chat. Since these types of meetings are not therapy, video chat can be done by Skype or your preferred program. If you would prefer a more secure method, please let me know so I can send you the link to my secure website for that.
